FIREWALL HEAT RESISTANT INSULATION PAD TO FIT 316/318/420 JOHN DEERE GARDEN TRACTORS. HOLES ARE ALL CUT FOR YOU. THE THICKNESS HAS BEEN DOUBLED TO MAKE IT 1/2". THE FOLLOWING IS WHY THEY ARE NEEDED: A FIREWALL INSULATION SEAL/PAD BETWEEN THE BACK OF THE MOTOR AND THE FIREWALL DIRECTS PROPER AIR FLOW TO BE PULLED UP THROUGH THE BELLY SCREEN (316 AND 318 MODELS) WHICH THEN TRAVELS INSIDE THE TIN AROUND THE MOTOR AND ON OUT THROUGH THE FRONT GRILL. THE 420 MODEL PULLS AIR THROUGH THE SIDE SCREENS ON THE DASH TOWER. THIS IS HOW THE MANUFACTURER INTENDED THE MOTOR TO STAY COOL WHILE OPERATING TO INSURE LONG LIFE. FOR BEST APPLICATION YOU WILL NEED TO PULL THE MOTOR.YOU WILL NEED A CAN OF 3M ADHESIVE SPRAY WHICH CAN BE PURCHASED AT MOST ANY HARDWARE/AUTO PARTS STORE.
